First Paid Gig!
Tonight I played a show at The Box Club (its the newest, sweetest venue in town). It was so much fun to play in a room that was over capacity with listeners. There was vibrant energy from each performer…I suppose I was on a music high of sorts. One day I will sell my own CDs and T’s to sweeten the pot, but for now, I will take most any venue that will have me, purely for the sake of getting experience (and maybe a few dolla bills).
Stage awkwardness is something that I don’t think I’ll ever snuff out completely, so maybe I’ll just learn to work with it. I’m hoping that the more shows I play, the less butterflies I’ll have in future performances…although butterflies are fun sometimes. Is it strange that I get a kick of being scared spitless?
I am very grateful to have supportive friends to cheer me on even when I do things like slur my lyrics together when I forget a line. Hands Down, my favorite moment of the night was when this adorable boy who is on exchange told me that I was going to be famous in Spain. I always appreciate sweet little comments like that, especially the random ones.
