“I get by with a little help from my friends”

After a stressful night of staying up until 3:00am to finish a paper, I fell into a near comatose sleep with my makeup still on my face.  I woke up later than I intended to, made a quick breakfast and bolted out the door, anxious to finish my assignments for the day.  I was determined to finish my three projects before my 5:00pm deadline.

I’m ashamed to say that my frantic drive to finish my assignments overrode my daily hygiene.  I was out the door before I realized that I hadn’t showered.  In fact, I was still wearing yesterday’s make-up on my face, though most of it was now on my poor little pillowcase.  Don’t worry Jess(my hygienist sister) I did, thankfully, take the time to brush my pearly whites.

Of course I saw virtually everyone I know on campus while in my unkempt state, including a former boyfriend, who of course seemed to be doing ridiculously well.

Ah well.

I buckled down and completed my project/papers with only 5 minutes to spare. Whew.

I raced home, jumped in the shower and finally got myself ready for the day at about 5:55pm.   The remainder of the evening was spent with friends celebrating an upcoming birthday.  Chillis was a little disappointing (wasn’t a big fan of the chicken mini tacos), but the company made up for it. No matter how hectic life is, I know that an evening with friends will buoy me up and put a positive twist on my perspective.  There’s nothing quite like ending off a whirlwind day with Funfetti birthday cake and a watching a decent sci fi thriller like “The Box” with people you love.

Friends (sigh).  What would I do without them?
