Because yesterday I was too tired to post...
April 4th was a good day. I woke up at 5am (no, that was not a typo, and yes, I am now capable of rising before the sun, contrary to popular belief) and went to work at 6. Things went really well, but in the last hour of work I started to notice how energy-drained I was. I stopped by the College Avenue Deli and picked up a Gyro on pita bread with tzatziki, hummus, feta, Greek chicken and lot...

Turning the Tables
As I was leaving work today, my good friend Alex sent me a text that read:
“Shawn. This is serious, what I’m about to say. I have to spend the rest of my gift card to Lulu Bella and I need some guidance. And it expires April 1st…I need you!”
Hahaha. At first glance I was worried that it really might be some detrimental news, but then I realized that everyone has a...
I found this old SNL favorite featuring Natalie Portman and all kinds of strange humour. I’ve been in search of it for years and I found it on a Spanish site oddly enough. Love it!

Rocky Balboa Road
Have you ever watched the movie Chocolat with Johnny Depp, and marveled and drooled over the scenes in the chocolaterie where rich, creamy chocolate was being churned? Both times that I have seen that movie I have had a sudden urge to make chocolate. This type of thing generally goes away shortly after the film is over, however, this one was different.

Everything Happens For a Reason
Setting: Dimly lit parking lot at 10:20pm, Southeastern Idaho
Tonight as I took two heavy trash bags and a small paper bag out to the garbage bin, I spent a split second deciding which to toss in first- the two heavy bags that I was holding in my right hand, or the lighter paper bag that consisted of mostly wrappers and bottles from my recent road trip to...

It's been a while...
in fact, it has been months since my last post of any real substance. I’m disgusted by this realization but I am determined to do better! So much has happened since July, but I’ll break it down simply for now:
I recovered from my tonsillectomy and I can sing again! (yaya) I did, however, get out of the Jello phase almost as quickly as I got into it. It turns out that too much of a...

tumblrbot asked: WHAT IS YOUR EARLIEST HUMAN MEMORY?
I'm on itunes!
Yesterday afternoon, just hours after my tonsillectomy, I was lying in my hospital bed gearing up for another episode of The Office. I had eaten two popsicles, a bowl of orange jello, and several T3s, but I was still feeling like I’d just swallowed a pile of roadside broken glass.
Just then, my producer/friend popped in for a surprise visit and told me that itunes had finally uploaded my...

Fin.
I’m so happy to finally have my first E.P. out and about. To actually hold a physical representation of all the work that has gone into this project is beyond satisfying.
I just had a CD release party last weekend to make it official! I had so much fun, and having a full band to back me was delightful. I seriously couldn’t have done it without the help of friends and family....

"It wont be long (yeah)..."
I’ve just listened to all final mixes of for my E.P. tonight, and it sounds amazing!! I love, love, love everyone who has helped with this album SOOO much right now! Everything will be mastered by Mr. George Graves of Laquer Channel Mastering. He’s worked with some of my favorite artists/bands such as Feist and Stars, and some of the bigger names in the industry like U2 and Kanye...

Wish me luck?
So…the bad news is that I still have the sniffles. I have been sick for a few days getting by on Vicks, Kleenex Lotion, Dora the Explorer popsicles(which are very educational), and lets not forget, chicken noodle soup, or “sick soup” as a good friend of mine calls it.:) I’m feeling significantly better today, but I’m still a little stuffed up. Under normal circumstances, this would be fine, but...

Thankful
I just want to say to everyone who came to Friday’s show THANK YOU
I have some ridiculously supportive friends who cheer extra loud (so that I feel like a big deal, haha). Even my parentals made a lengthy trip just to check out my gig. I am beyond blessed to have people who hook me up with shows, and to have people who take the time to listen to my music.
After talking with my...

January in a nutshell...
I have been neglecting my newly formed blog lately…so sorry!! This has been an intense and wonderful month. In the month of January I:
achieved my highest bowling record of all time (164)
played a gig
dyed my hair pink for a day
regressed to the fifth grade
rapped in public…whaa??
You’re probably wondering about the rapping, well, I can explain that. In fact, the last...

First Paid Gig!
Tonight I played a show at The Box Club (its the newest, sweetest venue in town). It was so much fun to play in a room that was over capacity with listeners. There was vibrant energy from each performer…I suppose I was on a music high of sorts. One day I will sell my own CDs and T’s to sweeten the pot, but for now, I will take most any venue that will have me, purely for the sake of...

First run of the season leaves me hurting and happy…
I just got back form a Christmas holiday with the fam. We left Christmas afternoon, right after gift opening and a delicious waffle with whipped cream and raspberry brunch. We trekked out to the mountains of Kalispell, MT seeing all kinds of wildlife along the way.
By the time we arrived, we were famished for our supper. We drove up and...

music is bliss...
So maybe I was being a tad dramatic with my post about finals week…but I got through it like I always (by the skin of my teeth). Apparently my teeth have skin now.
I hitched a ride with a couple friends and we made the trek back to Canada. We each ranged between getting 0-4 hours of sleep, so it was another miracle that we made it home all right.
I was welcomed home on Saturday night by...
The Count Down
4 hours and 10 minutes until my final research paper is due. Why did I put off the majority of it until tonight??
I took a final exam this evening and as I was about to head to the library to work on this crazy paper, the power goes out…in the entire city. So I walked from the furthest end of campus in almost pitch black surroundings at 7:45 pm. Spooky! It was amazing that I...
"I Think I Can, I Think I Can"
Not looking forward to this coming week. Finals just might kick my trash if I’m not careful. I’ve compiled a list of a few things that will help me to stay sane and survive this next week of exams and projects:
Fresh raw veggie snacks (especially celery)
2 playlists: one instrumental, the other a good chilled out mix
Chamomile Tea and honey
Constant supply of water
occasional...

"I get by with a little help from my friends"
After a stressful night of staying up until 3:00am to finish a paper, I fell into a near comatose sleep with my makeup still on my face. I woke up later than I intended to, made a quick breakfast and bolted out the door, anxious to finish my assignments for the day. I was determined to finish my three projects before my 5:00pm deadline.
I’m ashamed to say that my frantic drive to finish...
